Quick note today: we completed production for the first two episodes of “The Body.” I’ll go into much greater detail later on this, but in summary, everything went well – better, in fact, than I expected, given my limitations in terms of time and budget.
We worked long days, normally starting at 7 a.m. and finishing whenever we got the final shot. The main thing is that we shot everything I wanted, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I had an amazing cast and crew, and they made things go smoothly.
Right now, my mind is oatmeal. It was the longest week I’ve ever had – and I’m old. I’m still processing what went on. I learned a *ton* about filmmaking in the process, and that’s one of the greatest joys of all. I’m a sponge for learning new stuff, and every day brought plenty of that.
Some things went wrong, of course – it always does when filming, even with $200 million budgets (and mine was slightly less than that). But we were able to overcome those obstacles, and came out with a bunch of great footage that I think will work well.
Next up: editing. Then scoring. Then promotion/marketing. But at least the most fraught part of it all is done. We got the film (or, more correctly, the digital images). Now it’s up to me to do justice to what the amazing cast and crew created.
More details coming. For now, it’s on to the next phase!
