I loved “Twin Peaks” when it first came out in the 1990s. It was like nothing that had ever been on TV before (or since). We were seeing something new, and that’s the hardest thing to do: creating something original, something unique, something surprising at all times.
That’s what David Lynch did for me, did for us. He eschewed the Hollywood machine early on, deciding to take Bobby Frost’s road less travelled. It certainly made him less money, but had the advantage of always keeping him interesting. I think it’s worth most any sacrifice for that.
Lynch didn’t see things the way others saw them. That’s OK; I feel much the same way. When our YouTube series debuts, I hope people will have the same feeling. I want it to be something you haven’t seen before; a peek into a world many of you won’t be familiar with.
So pour yourself a great cup of coffee and have a big slice of delicious cherry pie to celebrate the passing of a unique voice. We won’t see his like again.
