The first major effort from Kitty Hawk Films is now available on the YouTube channel. Find it here.
When I look at it, mostly what I see are all the compromises I had to make due to funding limitations, i.e., the limits of my credit card. But when I get past that, I’m pleased in general. It has much that’s worthwhile, in my opinion.
It was originally meant to be a pilot for a series. That may not happen at this point, as funding is sketchy at best right now. As Pastor Ben says in one scene, “It’s in God’s hands.” That is absolutely true.
What is also true is that I learned a metric ton about filmmaking during the process. And I learned about it beginning to end, from scripting to casting actors to directing. And I learned a great deal more than I ever thought I’d know about producing (again, that credit card thing.)
So now, I move on to the next project(s). I have an idea for a new series that better comports with my ability (or, more accurately non-ability) to pay for my movies. They’ll be short films with very few locations and actors, and simple stories.
Those movies can be good, too. And I hope they will be. In any case, I’m going to keep working at making my films, no matter how many people (or how few) see them. I do it because I love doing it. It’s a blast, and keeps me moving forward.
On-Ward!
